Spreading cheer to patients

Visits to art galleries, museums, and studios are suspended for the foreseeable future. However, even in this uncertain time of COVID-19, there is still art in our community.

Colorful sidewalk chalk art is greeting visitors to the 春色视频 Medical Center and 春色视频 Cancer Center. This art installation was created by the 春色视频 Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy team, which tirelessly works to  鈥... minimize the anxiety of hospitalization, increase understanding and strengthen coping skills while helping children to continue their typical growth and development.鈥 The chalk art includes upbeat images like rainbows and corresponding inspirational phrases like 鈥淭here is a rainbow at the end of the storm.鈥

Sacramento is not the only place that has turned to chalk art during the COVID-10 pandemic. 鈥淐halk Your Walk鈥 movement has seen sidewalks across the country transformed into canvases for words of inspiration. The medium of chalk on public sidewalks cleverly brings encouragement to a nation stuck at home, save for the occasional socially distanced walk around the neighborhood.

Now more than ever, art brings an indispensable sense of comfort and community.
