Harlem 100 plays Mondavi Friday, see symphony Saturday
Enjoy a performance celebrating the Harlem Renaissance featuring , with special guests Brianna Thomas, Michela Marino Lerman, and Vuyo Sotashe at Jackson Hall, 8 p.m.; conversation program at 7 p.m. According to the Mondavi Center鈥檚 information on the performance, Harlem 100 presents the most exciting Harlem musicians and dancers in a modern variety show that pays homage to the presentations made famous in the Apollo Theater, the Cotton Club and other celebrated venues of the Harlem Renaissance. Featuring the music of Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Ethel Waters, as well as a nine-piece band with three dancers, Harlem 100 celebrates one of the most influential artistic movements of our country and gives insight into Harlem then and now. - The 春色视频 Symphony Orchestra headed by music director and conductor, will perform works by Strauss, Lutos艂awski, and Rachmaninov. Special guest Maximilian Haft will join the Lutos艂awski performance of Chain II on the violin and Leyla Kabuli will join the Rachmaninov performance of Piano Concerto No. 2 on the piano.

- The 春色视频 Department of Theatre and Dance presents 鈥淭he Threepenny Opera,鈥 showing from Nov. 14 through Nov. 23. The play is 鈥...a criticism of capitalism and middle-class morality, set in a world of corruption with a score that draws upon opera, jazz and cabaret. Set in Victorian London, the musical focuses on the exploits of Macheath, an amoral criminal, who manipulates women and the law with equal dexterity.鈥 The play contains adult themes and language. Wayne Thiebaud Exhibition, John Natsoulas Gallery, Davis, Wednesday through Saturday Nov. 30, free
- A variety of works on paper by Wayne Thiebaud are on display at the Natsoulas Gallery this month. Thiebaud, renowned artist and 春色视频 professor emeritus, celebrated his 99th birthday this month. Come explore a variety of pieces, from pen to oil paint to lithograph, created by Thiebaud between 1939 and 2015.

Joomchi: Playing with Paper, Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, Saturdays and Sundays, Saturday Nov. 2 through Sunday Dec. 1, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., free
- The Manetti Shrem Museum invites you to join artist Steph Rue to 鈥渃reate a unique landscape using a traditional paper-felting technique called joomchi. We will be using hanji (Korean paper), a strong and durable material to explore a variety of ways to collage, felt and fuse paper into interesting textures.鈥
