University Leaders to Discuss Pandemic, Future of International Education

Updated June 29: An update to the release reflects a change in the panelist from India for July 2 and the addition of a panelist from Sorbonne University in France for July 9.

Leaders from universities in New Zealand, India and Japan will discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the future of international education in an online forum Thursday, July 2.

The third in a series of five live conversations with educational leaders from about a dozen countries, the panel will include:

  • Harlene Hayne, vice-chancellor of the in New Zealand
  • Yutake Maeda, vice president and dean of the Division of International Affairs at in Japan
  • , vice chancellor of  in Sonipat, India

The series, 鈥,鈥 is co-hosted by the Institute of International Education, or IIE, and the University of California, Davis. See the series news release.  

The regional panel on Asia and Oceania will begin at 6 p.m. PDT (July 3 at 1 a.m. UTC). Allan Goodman, president of the IIE, will moderate the discussion.

The conversations continue July 9 with panelists from Europe:

  • Sari Lindlom, vice-rector of the  in Finland
