UPDATE: Fire Investigation Continues

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire in a Solano Park apartment that broke out on Saturday night (May 8). ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ will share the results once the investigation has been completed.

The ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ Fire Department responded to the campu²õ’s Solano Park Apartment at about 11:30 that night.

Since then, the building’s systems and structure have been evaluated for safety, and gas and electrical power have been restored.

Residents of the 12-apartment block are temporarily being housed elsewhere on campus, and have been provided with complimentary access to dining commons.

Student Housing is working with the residents to coordinate moving back into their apartments, pending tests by ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ Environmental Health and Safety and a final inspection by the ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ fire marshal.

Original story May 9: The ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in the campu²õ’s Solano Park housing area about 11:30 p.m. Saturday (May 8). One person was rescued by firefighters and transported to ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ Medical Center. The fire was brought under control within a few minutes of the rescue being completed.  

Other residents of the apartment block are being temporarily rehoused. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the ´ºÉ«ÊÓƵ fire marshal and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
