Countless Ways to Have a Festive Picnic Day

The “Picnic Palooza” is ready to kick off at the 110th Picnic Day this Saturday (April 20), and there are plenty of ways to celebrate.

The annual campus open house is expected to draw tens of thousands of people to ��ɫ��Ƶ for activities, performances, animal events, research exhibitions, giveaways, food and more. It is believed to be the largest student-run event in the nation.

Picnic Day Tickets Available for Doxie Derby, Fashion and Dance Shows

Updated April 12: Tickets to the Doxie Derby are sold out, but the event will be livestreamed.

Faculty and staff, start planning your Picnic Day itineraries: Free tickets to the Doxie Derby are available online starting today (April 9).

The tickets, distributed at no cost online ahead of the event, were made available to students Monday and will open to members of the general public tomorrow.

‘Picnic Palooza’ To Be Theme of 110th Picnic Day

The 110th Picnic Day, to be held on April 20, 2024, will have the theme of “Picnic Palooza” and feature ��ɫ��Ƶ staff member and alum Sheri Atkinson as parade marshal.

The 15 students of the Picnic Day Board of Directors announced the theme and parade marshal for the university’s annual open house at a campus reception Thursday.

“What better way to celebrate the 110th Picnic Day than with a palooza?” said Picnic Day Vice Chair Mina Sarmah.

Picnic Day 2023: ‘Ignite the Moment’

The 2023 Picnic Day Board wanted to “Ignite the Moment,” and did they ever ... putting on a momentous 109th edition of our campus open house, last Saturday (April 15). A crowd in the tens of thousands turned out in mild weather — sunshine with a high temperature around 70 — for a glimpse into the day-to-day of ��ɫ��Ƶ’ work in the sciences, social sciences, humanities and arts, with a healthy dose of fun thrown in.

Tens of thousands of people woke up Saturday (April 23) not knowing what to expect as they headed to campus, but what they found was both surprising and familiar.

The 108th Picnic Day, the first held in person since 2019, drew families, alumni, students and community members for research exhibits, performances and other events, food and the warmest weather in weeks.
